Building Climate Solutions Conference

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney Michael Carvalho will attend the Building Climate Solutions Conference on January 28 – 30, 2014 in Washington, D.C. This will be the 14th National Conference and Global Forum on Science, Policy and the Environment. NCSE (The National Council for Science and the Environment) is sponsoring this event; NCSE is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the scientific basis of environmental decision-making. Michael Carvalho is on NCSE’s Board of Directors and has been an avid supporter for many years.

The conference will be organized around two areas: [1] The Built Environment; and, [2] Agriculture and Natural Resources. Under these two themes, 24 tracks connect the conference to specific initiatives led by partnering organizations that advance solutions. In this manner, participants will engage with and have lasting impact on real world responses to climate change.

The recent release of the first part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Fifth Assessment Report reaffirms with even greater surety that climate change is occurring and poses significant challenges to humanity. The draft United States National Climate Assessment states that the impacts of climate change have “moved firmly into the present.”

Attending the conference will be over 1,200 key individuals from many fields of sciences and engineering, government and policy, business and civil society to advance solutions to climate change.

The following organizations have partnered with NCSE to implement important initiatives: World Wildlife Fund, Second Nature, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Geological Survey, NORC at the University of Chicago, NOAA, Sigma Space Corp at NASA, The National Academies of Science, Ecodistricts, U.S. Green Building Council, National Institute for Standards and Technology, University of California at Davis, University of California at Berkeley, The Climate Institute, Cornell University, U.S. Forest Service, EcoAmerica, U.S. National Park Service, and the Department of Energy.
